Camping Trip in Teton Park

We took a camping trip this past weekend in Teton National Park in Wyoming with our friends the Redman's who again is the family that transferred here from our division in Maine.  (Seriously who thought 2 years ago we'd be camping in Wyoming?  It still sounds weird to me)  The elevation of our camp site was 6,500ft.  The park is amazing.  Cattle are free range.. Mountains are surrounding you and the Grand Tetons are right above you.  And the best part of all  NO CELL PHONE SERVICE!!!!
This is a place you can take your teens and preteens and have their full attention at all times!!!  It's great!
The weather was perfect.  Around 65 degrees during the day when we got there.  However during the night, you would be amazed at how much and how fast the temperature drops at 6500ft.. Man i like to have froze!!  Around 6:00am Dawn jump up and said "I'm out of this ice-box, I'm going outside to make a fire so I can survive"   She was a little cold as well.  Other than the cold night we had a blast!  We will be heading there a lot in the future.  Some pictures below..

Entering the park, the first thing you realize is how close you are to the Grand Tetons..

Other Mtns in the area..

Several weeks ago we hiked Darby Canyon.  I finally have time to post some pictures.  Dawn is not in any pictures due to this is when she was in Georgia during the summer.

We went with the Redmans.  They are our friends who transferred here from our New England Division in Maine.

Jackson Hole WY 7-12-14

We finally made our way to Jackson Hole for an extended stay verses just the quick shopping trip.  Jackson is 90 miles from Idaho Falls.  I have to say that Jackson Hole is probably one of my most favorite places to be.  The views there are unbelievable and so much do in such a compacted area.  We took Allie Rai down the Alpine Slide.  To get there you take a ski lift up Snow King Mountain.  They have a double track that you ride this cart down.  If you've ever been to Gatlinburg TN ski resort they have one there.  This one however is huge and very long..  We scheduled a horse back trip after the slide but there was a rock slide that covered part of their trail.  They said they would find a way around but Mandy said "nope, sorry meet yall in the car".. So no ride.  We will reschedule next time when rock slide is cleared.. Ha..  Later that afternoon we made it to the rodeo.  They literally have 3 to 4 rodeos every week.  It is truly cowboy country out here.
The entire town is made to resemble the old west.  All the restaurants, hotels and stores all look like they were made for a western movie.  Even the local bar on the square has horse saddles for bar stools.  Its so awesome!!  We were able to find some local restaurants that weren't over taken by tourist and the food at these places is fantastic.  Apparently we missed seeing Jack Sheppard (the star of Lost) and  Christian Bale (Star of Batman) by one morning at the little local spot we went for breakfast.  That would have made a heck of photo for the blog.  Anyway we had a blast.  Hated Dawn missed it but she is in Georgia for next few weeks.  Here are some photos from our trip.

Eating lunch at our favorite pizza joint on the square.

View of the square from Pizza place balcony.

Candy!!!!

Notice all the side walks are decking

Starting up the ski lift for the Alpine Slide.  You can see the tracks at the bottom of the picture.

Mandy and Allie Rai making their way up.  Grande Tetons and other mountains in the background.  It was 90 degrees in  Jackson that day and snow still on top of mountains.

Headed to supper at Snake River Brewery.  Snow King mountain in the back ground.  You can see the ski slopes cut out.

Headed to the Rodeo

A buddy of ours who we met through another friend here lives in Jackson.  Josh in the picture below is originally from Georgia just above Atlanta. He rides bulls on his off time in the rodeos.  Allie Rai had to have a picture with a real cowboy..

Down town at night.

I took this picture on the way back from Jackson.  You can see where the mountain elevation gets to a point where trees wont grow.  So the tree line is obviously very visible here.

This store is between Swan Valley and Alpine.  I thought the name was a too funny.

We get home and finish the weekend off with a bike ride through the neighborhood.
